Use FORENSICA in Google Docs.
Follow the steps below to open the add-on, analyze selected text, read the result, and work with saved reports.
Installation availability
During the current testing period, installation is available to invited participants through the access route supplied by FORENSICA. Public installation through Google Workspace Marketplace will follow approval.
Install and authorize FORENSICA with the same Google account you plan to use in Google Docs.
Open FORENSICA
Open a Google Doc
Use an existing document or create a new document containing the passage you want to examine.
Open the add-on
From the Google Docs Extensions menu, open FORENSICA and choose the narrative analysis option.
Wait for the sidebar
The sidebar shows “System ready” and “Select text to begin” when it is ready for a new request.
Run an analysis
Select the passage
Highlight only the text you want FORENSICA to analyze.
Choose Analyze Narrative
Click the primary button once and keep the document open while the request completes.
Review the result
Read the Key Insight, Framing Intensity, Information Support, Structural Stability, and Assessment in relation to the message’s purpose, audience, and context.
Read the three indices
Framing Intensity
Shows how strongly the passage guides interpretation toward a particular view, judgment, or outcome.
Information Support
Shows how clearly the passage backs its claims with specific, traceable information.
Structural Stability
Shows how consistently the passage’s reasoning holds together from claim to conclusion.
Read all three values together. Each describes a different property of the selected message.
Report Archive
A successful analysis is retained in the configured Google Drive Report Archive. Open Report Archive in the sidebar to return to prior analyses. Archive rows show a bounded title, timestamp, and Framing value.
Opening an archive row loads the complete stored analysis and source context into the sidebar.
Append Report
Choose Append Report to add the complete report to the active Google Doc. The appended report includes the source context, analytical sections, metrics, and the full guide for reading the indices.
Export Report
Choose Export Report to create a separate readable Google Doc in the configured report workspace. The exported report contains the same self-contained analytical guide as the appended report.
Archive workspace
FORENSICA uses the configured Google Drive workspace for archived and exported reports. My Drive is available for the standard personal workspace. Users who need a shared team workspace can connect an available Shared Drive folder from Account & Settings.
Browser privacy settings must allow the Google file picker to open when connecting a Shared Drive workspace.
Units and account continuity
SCOUT currently includes five units, and each completed SCOUT analysis uses one unit. The available balance appears in the FORENSICA sidebar. Settings, units, and archive continuity follow the Google account used to run the add-on.
